STRIKE DAY! Taking It Up a Notch – Take the Poll!

The Traditional Patriot“, Robert of San Jose, CA, a feisty Constitution lover started the ball-rolling on this idea and I’m so glad to have the privilege of working with him.

STRIKE DAY

The Federal Government has gone over the edge.

While we have a deficit of $65 trillion+*, the 111th Congress and our President just keep spending, spending, spending.

Our elected representatives are ramming pieces of legislation into law faster than a speeding bullet and they don’t even know what’s in them.

Our money supply is controlled by a shady, extra-constitutional entity that has no oversight and carte blanche to print monopoly money at will, devaluing our currency and implementing a stealth tax by way of inflation.

Money is just a uniform way of valuing a product, good, service, or time. When you work, you are being compensated for your time. When government taxes you, they are taking some of your time, taking some of your life away.

Since government spending has reached levels so far beyond what can possibly be repay edwithout levels of taxation well into the future that are astronomical, government will be taking more and more of our time, more of our lives away. Based upon what has already been spent, government will be taking a lot of our childrens’ and our grandchildrens’ time, and therefore, their lives, as well.

Many of us know – THIS MUST STOP!

We make phone calls, we send faxes, and emails to the point of locking up websites and switchboards, where staffers shut off fax machines, but they’re still not getting the message.

We’ve taken to the streets in millions at Tea Parties and they still do not get the message.

Since our previous efforts to get through to government don’t seem adequate by themselves to get the point across, and we cannot wait until 2010 to vote people out of Congress, we need to take further action:

It’s time to crank it up a notch!

We need to hit government right where it currently lives; in its pocketbook.

Government’s pocketbook is tax dollars. Government entities tax every aspect of our daily lives from the income earned through our jobs, homes we live in, communication services we use such as our phones and internet, gas we put in our cars,  our leisure activities from the adult beverages we may drink to the hotels we stay in on vacation. Even in death, the government wants a cut through estate / inheritance taxes.

All of these activities are some form of commerce from which layers of government benefit.

In order to get the message across that it is time for government to be reduced in size and power to its proper role, we must choke off access to our money by shutting down as many avenues of tax collection as possible.

We propose a STRIKE, meaning that anyone who agrees that government is over the edge, pledges to refrain from all exchange of commerce.

What would a strike entail?

  • Do not go to work.
  • If you own a business, close for the day.
  • Do not shop for goods or services such as gas, groceries, movie rentals, clothing, fast food, pizza delivery, car maintenance, hair cuts, etc., etc.
  • Do engage in any banking transactions of any kind such as ATMs, drive thru, loan closings, etc.
  • Do not make major purchases such as a car, appliances, property, or a TV.
  • Do not engage in financial markets such as stock transactions, 401k account changes, etc.

There is NO question that this requires sacrifice from everyone who participates.

We do not suggest that if you are in an employment situation that is tenuous due to a downturn in your industry, that you risk the loss of your job. Go to work if that’s the case. You can do your part by otherwise not engaging in any commerce whatsoever.

A strike could be effective if it were a one time thing  BEFORE Congress leaves for the August break. We propose Friday, July 31.

A strike could be even more effective if we do it once a month (the last Friday) thereafter UNTIL WE GET THE DESIRED RESULTS.

We want to know the level of support for this idea – so please take the poll, below:

Currently, this poll is available on @apackof2′s site, just click the graphic of the poll to go to the post located there, the poll is at the bottom:

This idea was discussed on the Tuesday, July 14, on the Constitutional Liberty Coalition Gets Grizzly radio show. The first part of the show concerns the subject of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, through the first half hour. The portion of the show that covers the STRIKE DAY concept runs for one hour, and Robert from San Jose is on the show for the duration.

*The estimate of Federal debt includes unfunded obligations like business bailout guarantees, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

The CLC Gets Grizzly June 16: $135 Billion Treasury Bond Seizure, Liberty Rider Reaches Oklahoma

You can listen to June 16′s show by clicking on the graphic that has the “+” and says “Audio MP3″:

The CLC Gets Grizzly June 16

Tuesday, June 16′s  episode opened with the story that isn’t a story, apparently, as far as the news media is concerned, which was the recent seizure of $134.5 billion in U.S. Treasury Bonds on the Italian border.

The coverage, or lack there of, of this story was highlighted, along with the implications of the seizure along with another, related story which didn’t get reported, which was statements by Rep. Paul Kanjorski in February on C-Span that $550 billion was withdrawn in the span of an hour on September 15.

Both video clips referenced during the show can be viewed by clicking here.

Both of these stories regard the value of the U.S. dollar, which is the world’s reserve currency. The result of all the reckless spending, borrowing, and printing of money is that the value of the dollar is seriously in doubt going forward. Earlier this year, several countries including China began to question whether it wise to continue with the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Some of those questions seemed to have faded until earlier on Tuesday, June 16, when Russian President Medvedev made statements challenging the dollar’s stability.

The seriousness of moving away from the dollar as the world’s reserve currency cannot be overstated.

Discussion on the show turned to the lack of any real value backing the dollar, in particular  including the complete un-tethering from the gold standard in the 70s with “Brettenwoods II”.  There has been a precipitous drop of the dollar’s value ever since.

Central to the devaluation of the dollar is the Federal Reserve, the private entity that has broad powers to manipulate the value of our currency. A chart from earlier in the year was referenced which dramatically illustrates the incredible amount of money that has been printed just since last fall.

All of these questions spotlight the bill, introduced by Congressman Ron Paul, H.R. 1207, to audit the Federal Reserve, which has recently gained enough sponsors to move the bill out of Committee and onto the House floor for debate. Questions remain as to the viability of the bill’s progress due to language in the Senate version.

Also briefly mentioned was the story that appeared announcing that ABC news would be turning broadcast time over to the President.

Focus turned to Liberty Rider Michael Maresco. On Tuesday evening, he crossed the border from Missouri into the state of Oklahoma with a group meeting him, including this show’s co-host Sandra Crosnoe, grassroots activist Kaye Beach, and 4th District Congressional candidate R.J. Harris, who rode ten miles with Michael to the Lucky Turtle Casino.

Michael reviewed the purpose of his trip, which is to not only symbolize Freedom to Fascism by starting at the Statue of Liberty in New York and ending at Alcatraz Prison off the coast of San Francisco, but to talk to as many people as possible about freedom and liberty, including a primary focus on the traditional local law enforcement officer, the county sheriff.

Michael gives each sheriff he meets a packet of information, including Sheriff Mack’s book. But he’s not limiting his efforts to reach out and spread the concept of freedom to sheriffs or to himself. He’s encouraging locals across the country to do the same. Oklahoma is leading the way in working with Michael to broaden the reach of his efforts throughout the state, beyond his route.

Michael spoke about the importance of a grassroots effort across the country, that people are tired of hearing from politicians and groups, they want to hear from real people.

Included in his efforts will be his attendance at an Independence Day Tea Party in New Mexico, organized by Adam Kokesh.

Michael’s day would end with an additional thirteen mile ride. A number of activities are planned for his time in Oklahoma.

R.J. Harris came on the show after Michael to talk about his ride from the border and what he and others in the state will be doing to ensure Michael’s efforts have as wide a reach as possible.

R.J. focused on the pocket Constitutions in Michael’s packets, which he realized was a document that as a National Guard member he’d sworn allegiance to but hadn’t read. He plans to introduce a bill, if elected to Oklahoma’s Fourth Congressional District, requiring that all members of the U.S. armed forces read and study upon enlistment.

Discussion turned to how brief the Constitution is in contrast to most of the pieces of legislation that are introduced today in the U.S. Congress. A provision to limit any legislation introduced to match that of the Constitution was pondered.

In addition to providing support for Michael Maresco’s ride, R.J.’s campaign is in full swing, including a major fundraising effort coming up on Friday, June 19, more information about which can be found on his campaign’s website.

Coming up on next week’s show is an appearance for the full hour by grassroots lobbyist Kaye Beach, who has been working on a “how-to” lobby a state legislature.
